In its first year of operation, Satva participated in an Indian Railways Tender to bid for the construction of a Road Under Bridge (RUB) in Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh and won the lowest bid for Rs. 5.33 cr. It involved construction of a bridge over State Highway No. 28 at Jammalamadugu on a new Broad Gauge line proposed from Yerraguntla to Nandyal. The bridge consisted of a single clear span of 40m length with PSC box girder on well foundations and earth reaches on either side extending for 100m. It was a challenging project for a new entrant to tackle, but Satva pulled it off successfully within the stipulated time and to the high standards of the Indian Railways. Satva proposes to bid for more upcoming bridges and reaches in the next phases of construction on the same BG line. All the groundwork has been completed to ensure timely completion of works.
Satva has signed the Letter of Acceptance for its second project in Shrirangapattanam, Karnataka and execution of work has commenced in October 2009. River Cauvery splits into two on approaching Tippu Sultan’s Fort, and it is on these two bits of river Cauvery that the bridges are proposed. It is part of the Mysore-Ramanagaram Track Doubling effort undertaken by the South Western Railway. Set on a perennial river, the Bridges are estimated at Rs. 21 cr with a strict timeline of 18 months. It is a challenging project which will test the capabilities of any civil construction firm, but Satva is confident of rising to the challenge, and plans to complete the project well within the time limits.
